No. During tackle seasons, the kids will have practices and/or training camps to teach beginnings and returning players.
While flag seasons have no practice, no score is kept and the games are purely recreational. They will learn while they play. It is a great intro to the league for new children.
Registration for both football and cheer are done through our registration pages. The current form will be on the header of our front page. You will be asked to make a TeamSnap account before filling out the form.

WYFCL offers a $25 Sibling Discount for each additional child in the registration.

If your town doesn't already have a league, you are welcome to sign up. If you do, you must register with them.
The minimum age for our Tackle Football and Cheer is 5 years old and the maximum age is 14 years old.
Please note that all 14 year olds must be born on or after August 1st of this year.
Please note that 5 year old children may participate at the discretion of WYFCL.
Birth Certificate, proof of address & medical form are due by August 1st.
All division age and weight requirements for Tackle Football are as follows:
Mighty Mites: Age 5-7 years of age on or before November 1 of current year.
Weight limit is 120 pounds.
Division 1: Age 8-9 years of age on or before November 1 of current year. Weight
limit is 125 pounds.
Division 2: Age 10-11 years of age on or before November 1 of current year.
Weight limit is 142 pounds.
Division 3: Age 12-13 years of age on or before November 1st of current year and
14-year old’s who turn 14 on or after August 1st of current year. However, no
player shall enter the 9th grade during the season. Weight limit is 166 pounds.
All divisions are allowed an additional 3 pounds for required pant, girdle, knee, thigh, tail, hip and cup.
Players must weigh within 10 pounds of the maximum weight for division in order
to have any contact with another player during practice.
All division age requirements for Cheer are as follows:

All of our Tackle Football and Cheer Practices are held at our Home Field, Lasser Park. For games, 4 of our games are played at our Home Field and 4 of our games are played at Away Fields. The teams and locations are determined by the OCYFL when the 2023 Schedule is released in late August.
Optional Football and Cheer Clinics are included with your registration. WYFCL Coaches will be hosting 4 “Drop-Off” Clinics at our home, Lasser Park. The Optional Football Clinics will be held in July and the Optional Cheer Clinics will be held in May and June.
Mandatory Wizards “Training Camp” Practices are included for Football & Cheer & begin on August 1st at our home, Lasser Park. The Training Camp Practices during the month of August are Mondays through Thursdays, from 6 pm to 8 pm, weather permitting.
When school starts, Practices during the season are usually 3 to 4 weekdays, depending on the division, from 6 pm to 8 pm. Mighty Mites and D1 usually practice Tuesdays to Thursdays and D2 and D3 usually practice Mondays to Thursdays.
Practice days may be changed due to the weather. Please note that Football does practice and play in the rain.
Our 8 Game Season begins in early September & includes 4 Home Games at Lasser Park & 4 Away Games at our neighboring Orange County towns.
Games are played weekly on a Saturday OR Sunday. The season starts in early September and ends in late October to early November, depending on Playoff & Bowl eligibility & results.
Cheerfest is usually held the first week of November.
WYFCL is a member of the Orange County Youth Football League (OCYFL) and we are a USA Football Certified “Heads Up” Tackle Football Program.
Flag Football is a "just for fun" Recreational League. As there is no practice, kids will learn to play during the games. We encourage parents to teach their kids the basic safety rules of Flag Football.
WYFCL Football Coaches are USA Football certified for Heads Up Football and undergo background checks. Our groups of Football Coaches also meet the OCYFL requirements for First Aid & CPR/AED certifications.
WYFCL Cheer Coaches are NAYS certified and background check approval. Our groups of Cheer Coaches also meet the OCYFL requirements for First Aid & CPR/AED certifications.
All of our Divisions play with Section 9 Certified Referees.

Players are provided with the highest quality equipment that is tested and certified to meet NOCSAE standards. For Football, your child is provided with a helmet, shoulder pads, padded practice pants and padded game pants, and a practice jersey. All you are responsible for is a mouthpiece, cup, socks and cleats. For Cheer, your child is provided with a shell top, skirt, jacket, pants and 2 sets of pom-poms. You are only responsible for purchasing their Cheer Shoes. All of these Football and Cheer items will be returned to WYFCL at the end of the season.
When the equipment is handed out, WYFCL will be asking families to sell 1 raffle book to help us absorb the equipment cost and to further support our program.
Personalized Game Jerseys, with last names and numbers, are included in the registration fee and kept by the Players. Bows, leggings, bloomers, socks and undershirts are included and kept by the Cheerleaders.
Yes, WYFCL has raffles and other fund raisers that help us support the program, purchase equipment and reduce our registration fees. We do kindly ask parents for their help.
There are no tryouts. Our teams are built through the registration process.
Yes. WYCFL and the OCYFL requires players to receive a medical physical examination annually prior to participation. The decision if a player is healthy enough to begin participation is up to the parent and the player's physician.
Our Annual Bonfire Rally is a longtime Wizards Tradition and is held in late August. Our Football Players will wear their new Game Jerseys when they are introduced to our Washingtonville community. For Cheer, your Registration includes a Bonfire Rally Shirt that your child will wear for their introductions.
Our Annual Trophy Banquet will be held in November and every child will receive a Personalized Trophy to commemorate their Season. The registration includes the Personalized Trophy.
